Pieces of Me

Published by lopinon on

A quick collection of images from recent days and how the passing of time effects us all…

My father once told me that the older we get, the faster the days will fly by. Of course, as a very young person, I was sure that he was wrong…well, he wasn’t. Every week, someone in my world says something about how fast their days go by.

How about yours?

Do you feel the same?

Fathers Day 2019
My father died suddenly in 1992. Talk about time flying. It’s impossible that he’s been gone this long.

Each Fathers Day, I gather a massive bouquet from my own Texas garden and take it to his grave. He’s not there. He’s with his Father and I’ll see them both some day.

Sometimes, I think it would be interesting to put a personal satellite on each of us and make a visual diary of what we do in a day. I once wrote down every single thing that I did in a week. It was remarkable.

I’m always taking photos. I can’t stop looking for things that interest me. This solitary moth was floating in our birdbath. There was something very beautiful about it to me.

Spoon Angel

A then new friend, invited me years ago to swap an angel with her. The only requirement was that we build them on a spoon. We have stayed in touch for many years. Her talent amazes me. Her name is Carla Trujillo.

I made this Find Angel a very long time ago.

As artists, we can make something and cherish it thinking that we will never let it go, and then suddenly, something changes and it’s ok to let it go. This Mixed Media Angel recently sold in the Small Works Gift Shop at San Antonio Art League & Museum, where I have others for sale. She was purchased by a woman from D.C. that collects art made by women artists. She recently sent me an image of her, hanging in her home. I’m happy that this piece is being cherished.

Sometimes, I run across an old photo…

I hadn’t seen or thought about this Hastypearl Mixed Media Angel for a long time, until it recently came up on my FB feed. It brought back memories of my early Hastypearl days. I reposted it. Up came it’s buyer to tell me how much she loved her. Again, it’s always so wonderful to know that my art is living well, with others !

The Sketchbook Project Hastypearl
A page from my The Sketchbook Project…

It’s been a few years back, but I had a Wonderful time filling the pages of my submission to The Sketchbook Project. It’s NO secret how much I Love the color Orange. I once read that it is the worlds least favorite color.

How do “they” know that?

No one asked me.

Did they ask, YOU? ; )

Ive been working on drawing lots of Dog patterns for Ceramic Pins that I am making

I’m a dog person, well and a cat person, and I’ve probably never loved anything more than my horses. Making these little pins has been so much fun. There is always one more breed to be drawn. People literally stop me when I wear them. I think that might suggest that I’m NOT the Only dog lover in the world!

What’s Your favorite breed?

Maybe I’ve already drawn it.

They are only $28.

Kiln Shed in the making…

This is my husband this past weekend, building walls around my kiln. The kiln has been well protected behind temporary plywood and tarps, but they are “going to pull themselves down”, he said. During the week, he works harder than Any human being.

Any.

Then, he works even harder at home, on the weekend.

What will happen when he retires, I often wonder.

Right outside of our garage, he framed two walls and put up the plywood in a day. A very Long day. Next, we will clad it with painted James Hardie cement board siding, like other parts of our house and it will be very nice. Instead of adding a kiln shed elsewhere, we will have it here. Check that box.

So, I could go on and on, hopping about telling you about my days.

The point of it all, is that life really Does fly by. And look at the variety of things in this posting, that have filled my days.

I know that your life is the same…

It’s the Interesting, Sometimes Challenging but Mostly Joy of it all, really. There are some ecstatic moments, and there are some very terrible ones, but mostly, it’s just the left, right, left, right moving forward details that make life Full and Valuable.

I’m happy to share my life with You.

I love that you stopped by.

I have new analytics gizmo installed at Laura Roberts Art, thanks to friend and computer wizard Jill Doyle, and I love geeking out about seeing the count of folks stopping by, to see what’s going on in my world. I’m a blog follower and I too, love reading about peoples lives.

I Hope that Your days are great.
