Make Chocolate Candy with 4 Ingredients

Hastypearl

I made some (more) pretty serious changes in my already pretty healthy eating habits at the first of the year. Among other choices, I stopped eating all added sugar. I already for the most part didn’t eat sweets, but during the holidays, I was eating in that out of control way, that I hate. So, bottom line is, I hadn’t eaten any chocolate this year.

I started using cacao when I make my breakfast cereal.  I looked around for some recipes using cacao and stumbled onto this really not so dangerous, candy. Well, as long as you don’t eat the Whole batch in a sitting, anyway:) It uses the tiniest bit of honey and then, you can play with it and add whatever you want to the 4 basic ingredients.

I made a batch yesterday, and I don’t think that it took me 15 minutes, to put it all together!

Heres what I did.

Ingredients

1/2 coconut oil

1/2 cup cacao powder

3-4 T honey

vanilla

Either in your microwave, or on the stovetop, melt your coconut oil. It melts quickly. Press the cacao through the sifter right on top of the oil. Follow with the honey and vanilla. Stir.

People who know me know that I’m going to ADD, to a recipe. I see recipes as a STARTING place. What are our imaginations FOR if we don’t change things up, right? 🙂

So, I used caramel extract flavoring (WalMart) , dried blueberries and chopped pecans. Imagine using unsweetened coconut, raspberries or peppermint flavoring!

Your are going to want to do it different Every Time!

Stir it really well, but since you got rid of all of the cacao lumps with your sifter, it should be really smooth.

Pour the mix onto a nonstick surface and put into your refrigerator. Coconut oil solidifies fast, but it also melts fast, too. So, you will store in your freezer (sacrilege to this girl) or in your refrigerator.

Before you know it, it’s ready to be broken into pieces and Con*Sumed : )

You could easily double this recipe, but that’s WAY too dangerous for me!

I hope that you have lots of fun with this.

It’s dark and dreamy…you’ll love it.

As always, Im so glad that you stopped by. Sign up on the right where it says Newsletter and you’ll be notified when I post.

Fingers crossed as I’m posting from my IPad for the first time!

Best as always, Laura
