On Generosity…

Yes, surprises still happen!

A while back on FB, I said something very random about still enjoying sending Snail Mail And receiving it. You may remember that 2017 and 2018 were Mail Art hosting years for me. I had a wonderful time picking very different artists, with different interests, and making a group out of them. We had a great time with a year each, of trading art.

What I’m talking about in this posting is very Different than that. I’m talking about nothing being organized, rather, just someone responding out of the kindness of their heart.

I have as much fun opening a surprise as possessing it. There’s something so exciting about unwrapping it all…

I started this posting by referring to my statement on FB about Snail Mail. Well, a FB friend took note of that comment, remarkable really, as we all read so hurriedly through our social media. Out of the blue, Gina Louthian said…”I’ll send you some snail mail”! I had no idea what she had in mind, but not long after…this arrived!

So many wonderful pieces of potential!

Her package was Full of papers of All kinds, that I will certainly use in future hastypearl art pieces and I loved her decorative ceramic plant stakes and earrings!. I’ve been making plant stakes and jewelry as well, with leftover pieces of rolled out clay. I couldn’t have been happier, and the bottom line is…there was really No reason that she did what she did, other than Kindness and Generosity.

I was moved. Thank You, my friend!

Something similar happened around the same time, just a little differently.

I had seen one of another FB artist friend, Pamela Huntington’s terrific digital art pieces, and wanted it. I inquired. To my surprise, she said instead of selling it to me, she wanted to Gift it to me.

What?

I loved how spontaneous it was.

I was moved. Thank you, my friend!

Isn’t she magical? Pamela is amazing at layering and her “paintbrush” is her computer. I have a fantasy about being able to understand how to do this some day!

This piece is headed to someone that I love very much, whom will be getting a new bedroom very soon. Shhh! Keep it a secret, please : )

Generosity.

I could go on and on. Literally. And so could You. Generosity is not rare, it’s practiced all of the time.

I gave away an art piece to help decorate a new San Antonio Ronald McDonald house. It had a favorite quote on it and I can’t find its picture, but it was written in another century when language was as exquisite as any other art form, but it basically said…

After we give, we receive a Dividend BACK, every time we Think of it.

Isn’t that true?

When we give, it feels good, but down the road, it Still Does, just because of our thinking about that moment, again.

I hope that you enjoyed this posting. Allowing me to share and toot the horns of two people that I likely won’t ever meet, but if I did, I’d give them Both, a seriously tight hug!

Maybe, right now, I’ll challenge us all, to scroll through our FB or IG or Twitter friends lists, and I’ll bet someones name will oddly jump out at You and You can bless them with a surprise, just like these two ladies did for me. Just ask them for their address. Tell them it’s a good thing, and I bet they’ll comply!

If you do, it’ll make you feel great for a long time…

I hope to hear stories from You about Your experiences!

Thanks for stopping by. I’m always so glad that you do. Please feel free to subscribe. I’ll be tweaking laurarobertsart.com and if subscribed, You’ll be getting a little e-note when I post.

Happy Generosity Day…every day… to YOU!!!

p.s. Go back and read one of my recent and previous postings. Its title was about doing something crazy. It was about submitting pieces to an Art Call for a gallery that I don’t know, other than just reading about it…

Well, this piece…DID NOT get selected. I know, we always hear about things that DID get picked, but I’m not that way. I’ll tell you the good and the not so good. No worries, I really love this piece and I’ll make it available to buy, and won’t it be fun to see who DOES pick it? : )
